Alpha Recovery takes delivery of First Mercedes-Benz Arocs truck

National breakdown and recovery specialist Alpha Recovery has taken delivery of its first-ever Mercedes-Benz Arocs truck, supplied through Bell Truck and Van, marking a significant step in the expansion of its heavy recovery fleet.

Alpha Recovery, based in the UK, provides a wide range of breakdown, transport, and heavy recovery services across Northumberland, Tyneside, Wearside, County Durham, Teesside, and North Yorkshire.

Operating from multiple depots, the company delivers 24/7 solutions to both private and commercial clients, with a fleet of more than 36 vehicles covering services such as heavy recovery, off-road rescues, bus and coach recovery, and plant winching.

A long-time Mercedes-Benz operator, Alpha Recovery has previously added two Unimogs and four Ategos to its fleet.

The Arocs, however, is the company’s first heavy vehicle from Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

It features a 15.6-litre 627bhp engine delivering 3,000Nm of torque, an 8×4 configuration with steel suspension, and the Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 12-speed automated gearbox with selectable driving modes including rocking mode and fast reverse.

The truck has a maximum gross train weight of 180 tonnes, ideal for recovering large trucks with trailers.

Equipped with a Falkom FAW25000 wrecker system, the Arocs was custom-specified in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz technical teams to meet Alpha’s exact operational requirements.

Michael Burke of Alpha Recovery said: “We chose the Arocs because of our excellent past experiences with Mercedes vehicles. This truck had to meet serious demands, and it’s exceeded expectations. The performance, technology, driver comfort, and engine braking are outstanding. Plus, it offers a fuel return we’ve not seen from other manufacturers.”

He added: “One of the biggest reasons we went with Bell was the level of service. Alex took all the stress out of the build and conversion. Knowing any query will be dealt with quickly and competently is invaluable. The process was seamless.”

Alex Wordsworth, Group Head of Truck Sales at Bell Truck and Van, said: “Michael, Simon, and the team at Alpha have been trusted partners of Bell Truck and Van for many years. Working with Alpha, Rydam, Falkom, and Daimler Truck Technical, we managed to put together the perfect spec to suit the job down to a T. It’s great to see the finished result on the road and the superb feedback from the driver.”

With the new Arocs joining its fleet, Alpha Recovery is already considering adding another truck, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining rapid response and technical recovery excellence across challenging terrain and high-pressure scenarios.
