Ben calls on community to get Christmas jumpers at the ready

Ben, the automotive industry’s dedicated charity, is calling on the entire sector to come together to support colleagues facing hardship this December.

This Christmas, the charity is encouraging automotive businesses, garages, and individuals to get involved in Christmas Jumper Day and send Ben Christmas cards, raising vital funds for those struggling or in crisis.

Christmas Jumper Day takes place on Friday 12 December, though participants are welcome to join in on any day that month.

Those taking part are asked to wear their most dazzling, or delightfully dreadful, Christmas jumper, gather colleagues, and collect a £3 donation per person, roughly the price of a coffee. It’s a simple but powerful way to celebrate the season while helping industry colleagues who need it most.

Whether it’s wearing a festive jumper, sending a card, or simply sharing support, by coming together this Christmas, garages, technicians, and other automotive industry professionals can make a real difference, putting smiles on faces and hope in hearts.

For more than 35 years, Ben has also offered its unique, motor-themed Christmas cards, including designs by renowned motoring artist Richard Wheatland.

A brand-new automotive design for 2025 aims to delight both avid Wheatland collectors and new buyers.

Alongside cards, Ben’s shop offers e-cards and festive essentials such as wrapping paper and tags, giving supporters multiple ways to spread cheer while raising funds.

Matt Wigginton, Ben’s Director of Growth & Development, said: “Why not turn your office into a festive spectacle for the day, run a competition for the tackiest jumper or most creative knit selfie, or raffle a Ben bear to raise vital funds? Christmas Jumper Day is such an easy way to get involved and helps everyone get into the festive spirit.

“By sending Ben Christmas cards, you’re raising awareness about the charity as well as raising funds.

“Fundraising has never been more important. Thousands of people in our automotive family urgently need our support. Together, we can make a life-changing, often life-saving, difference.”

This year, as cost-of-living pressures continue to bite, Ben is more committed than ever to helping those in crisis. The charity urges anyone in the automotive industry who is struggling to reach out. Free and confidential support is available through Ben’s helpline at 08081 311 333 or via webchat at www.ben.org.uk.
