Hella Gutmann showcases ADAS calibration rollout at independent garage in new video series

Independent garages and vehicle technicians will soon get an exclusive behind-the-scenes view of one workshop’s journey into Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration, thanks to a new video series from Hella Gutmann.

Launching in January, the series follows Oldfields Garage in Leominster, Herefordshire, as it explores ADAS services for the first time.

It captures the full process, from initial interest and workshop assessments to equipment unboxing, hands-on training, and the eventual rollout to customers.

ADAS technology is increasingly common on UK roads, with one in five vehicles now equipped with these systems. Calibration is essential whenever a vehicle’s camera or geometry is altered, after windscreen replacements, body repairs, suspension or chassis work, or wheel alignment, to ensure systems operate safely and in line with manufacturer specifications.

Tim Benson, Managing Director of multi-award-winning Oldfields Garage and founder of Oldfields Automotive Consulting, highlights the practical and safety-driven reasons behind the move.

“ADAS isn’t a fad,” said Tim. “It’s part of everyday driving. From parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring to adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, and emergency braking, every feature relies on correctly calibrated hardware. Move a camera or radar just a few millimetres, and you could delay an emergency response.”

From January, Oldfields Garage will be using the Hella Gutmann CSC-Tool Mobile, a compact, collapsible system with folding targets, for all ADAS calibrations. Supported by documented pre- and post-scans and real-world road tests, the system ensures every calibration meets OE standards.

“Our goal with this series is to show what it takes for an independent garage to offer ADAS calibration,” says Julian Goulding, Head of Garage Equipment at Hella Gutmann. “From first impressions to hands-on training, we’re documenting the process so other workshops can see how approachable, efficient, and commercially viable ADAS services can be.”

A teaser video, released ahead of the full series, gives garage owners and technicians a glimpse into the realities of ADAS calibration. The full series will follow on Hella Gutmann’s official channels, providing garages across the UK with a practical example of how to bring ADAS calibration in-house safely, efficiently, and profitably.
