West Yorkshire garage shuts shop: specialist tools for sale

Lineholme Garage, a long-established West Yorkshire business, has closed after decades of serving farmers, plant operators, and workshop professionals nationwide.

Known for its expertise and commitment to quality, the business leaves behind not only its stock and machinery but also a wealth of knowledge that has been built up over generations.

Following the closure, all assets are being offered through an online auction organised by specialist advisory firm Walker Singleton.

The sale features approximately 400 lots and closes at 12pm on 9 October.

The collection presents an unusual opportunity for garages and technicians to acquire tools and equipment that are rarely available on the open market.

The auction includes a wide range of trade-counter items, from consumables and spare parts to PTO shafts, linkage components, socket sets, and hand tools.

Collectors and enthusiasts of classic and vintage tractors will also find rare items such as David Brown body panels and engines, making the auction of interest beyond standard workshop operations.

In addition to consumables and parts, the sale includes specialist workshop equipment, ranging from crankshaft polishers and grinders to a fully equipped test facility for cylinder heads, valves, and injectors.

Some of this equipment has never even been commissioned, reflecting the level of investment Lineholme Garage made in its operations over the years.

Dan Hey, director of Walker Singleton, described the closure as a “sad loss” for both the local and wider agricultural and plant sectors.

He highlighted the combination of high-quality tools and decades of accumulated expertise as being particularly difficult to replace.

Hey added that the auction provides a valuable chance for garages, plant operators, and enthusiasts to secure equipment that has been carefully collected and maintained over decades.

The lots feature tools and equipment from well-known brands such as Snap-On, Bradbury, Colchester, and Smart & Brown, underlining the emphasis on quality and durability.

Hey also recommended that buyers view the items in person where possible to fully appreciate the breadth and condition of the collection.

All lots can be viewed online, with in-person inspections available by appointment.
