TPS doubles electric vehicle fleet for parts deliveries

Volkswagen Group UK’s parts division, TPS, has taken a significant step towards a greener future, doubling the number of electric vehicles (EVs) in its 680-strong delivery fleet over the past 12 months.

Following successful pilots with the CUPRA Born and Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo models, more than one in ten TPS delivery vehicles are now electric, with 88 EVs actively operating across the UK’s 83 TPS centres.

These centres supply genuine Volkswagen Group parts to independent workshops and bodyshops for Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, SEAT, CUPRA, Škoda, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

The expanded EV fleet now includes CUPRA Born, ID. Buzz Cargo, and the all-new Volkswagen eTransporter models.

By electrifying its delivery vehicles, TPS aims to support more sustainable operations as part of Volkswagen Group’s regenerate+ ESG programme.

The new EVs are projected to save 1,384 tonnes of CO₂ over a three-year lifecycle, equivalent to the annual emissions of around 500 small vans, with further EV additions planned for 2026 as current vehicles reach the end of their contracts.

Catherine Baker, One Aftersales Director for Volkswagen Group UK, said: “The addition of the new EVs is a major boost to our strategy to electrify the TPS delivery fleet.

“Plans to accelerate our EV journey help to pave the way for our business to cut significantly its UK carbon footprint, driving the transformation of our delivery service that will benefit both the planet and our customers.”

TPS is also enhancing its infrastructure to support the EV rollout, with over 50 centres now equipped with charging points and four centres featuring solar panels to promote sustainable power use.

The move underscores Volkswagen Group UK’s commitment to sustainability while ensuring independent garages continue to receive timely parts deliveries as the automotive industry transitions to electric mobility.
