Falken secures OE fitment on all-new Porsche Cayenne Electric: What ‘NG0’ marking means for your workshop

Falken AZENIS FK520 (NG0) tyre

When an Original Equipment (OE) tyre agreement lands on our news desk, it is easy to dismiss it as corporate back-slapping between tyre manufacturers and OEMs. But today’s factory fitment is tomorrow’s aftermarket replacement job, and Falken’s latest approval for the all-new Porsche Cayenne Electric carries critical technical takeaways for independent workshops.

Falken has engineered a custom, homologated version of its Ultra High Performance (UHP) AZENIS FK520 tyre for factory-fit on Porsche’s all-electric performance SUV.

While the headline grabber is the continuation of Falken’s long-term collaboration with Porsche, which stretches from OE fitments on the Macan since 2019 to competing in motorsport with the Porsche 911 GT3 R, the real story for technicians lies in the sidewall markings and structural engineering.

The new AZENIS FK520 package bears the ‘NG0’ designation. For workshops, it is vital to recognise that this marking is strictly reserved for tyres developed, homologated, and approved to meet Porsche’s exact requirements.

When these premium electric SUVs inevitably start rolling onto independent garage ramps for replacement rubber, fitting a standard, non-homologated tyre of the same size will compromise the vehicle’s driving characteristics.

The NG0 package has been refined to address the unique punishment doled out by high-performance EVs.

The rubber compound is specifically tailored to reduce rolling resistance. This reduction in rolling resistance can have a positive effect on vehicle range depending on driving conditions.

In performance SUVs that combine substantial power with significant vehicle weight, the tailored tyre architecture helps enhance overall performance and efficiency. It is designed to contribute to strong traction and efficient torque transfer while supporting precise steering response.

Despite the mass of the vehicle, the tyre is engineered for stable high-speed performance. Carrying a Y speed rating, the AZENIS FK520 (NG0) is approved for speeds of up to 300 km/h.
