Baz Meredith tackles a grueling timing chain replacement on a 2016 Land Rover Discovery equipped with the notorious 2.0-litre Ingenium engine.
A diagnostic scan revealed fault code P0341-91 for the camshaft position sensor, indicating severe chain stretch. Before dropping the subframe, Baz secured the steering wheel with a seatbelt to prevent clock spring damage while the steering column was disconnected.
Heavy corrosion between steel ball joints and aluminium knuckles created a major bottleneck, requiring air hammers and splitting wedges. With the subframe out, Baz drained the fluids and slipped the gearbox back to access the rear-mounted timing assembly.
He used a heat inductor to safely release the locked camshaft phaser bolts before installing a comprehensive GTR Motive replacement kit. Live data later confirmed perfect timing alignment and restored camshaft correlation.
