The team at The Car Edition put the new Jaecoo 7 SUV on the ramp to assess its build quality, serviceability, and mechanical design from an independent technician’s perspective.
Under the bonnet, the team highlighted the accessible service points, bright orange dipstick, and lack of an auxiliary belt. They also praised the generous heat shielding applied to brake lines and coolant hoses near the turbocharger.
Up on the ramp, the underbody revealed double-piston front brakes and a rear suspension trailing arm setup reminiscent of Volkswagen Group designs. However, they warned that a lack of plastic under-shielding and sound deadening could invite rust over time.
Consulting Autodata, the hybrid powertrain specifies 4.3 litres of 0W-20 C5 engine oil with a sump plug torque of 50 Nm. While timing data was absent, the team awarded the SUV a high 8.7 out of 10 rating for overall mechanic approval.
