Lewis Vehicle Services manages DVSA MOT crash and workshop backlog

Lewis Vehicle Services faced a stacked diary and workshop disruption after an unannounced 24-hour DVSA MOT system outage locked up testing bays.

With an MOT logged on for over 24 hours and connected brake test data failing to transfer, the team diverted ramp capacity to clear a queue of mechanical jobs.

Work included fitting a Febi expansion bottle to cure a leaking Ford Mondeo TDCi, alongside replacing a holed sump pan on a Citroen Relay using a fresh BGA unit.

On a 2010 Fiesta TDCi, leaking diesel leak-off pipes required removing the rocker cover, with the technician warning to block open ports against dropped retaining clips.

A stubborn spongy brake pedal on another Fiesta was finally traced to a failed servo vacuum check valve, leaving the team sourcing an eBay replacement after Ford discontinued the line.
