Jimmy O’Riley of O’Rileys Autos evaluates the updated Mucar 892BT Pro diagnostic scan tool while investigating an engine fault on a rebranded Vauxhall van.
The revised unit features a larger J2534 pass-through dongle, full system topology mapping, and an integrated AI assistant for searching fault codes.
Connecting to a Vauxhall Combo displaying an engine fault, O’Riley routed through Citroën manufacturer menus to run topology scanning, pulling code P20002. Live data revealed 25 mbar DPF pressure and soot contamination, identifying a cracked particulate filter.
The demonstration also covers hardware extensions, using a slim endoscope camera module to inspect tight components alongside BSI actuation testing and remote assistance features.
O’Riley highlights the tool’s appeal for independent technicians, pointing to free lifetime software updates in place of expensive annual subscription fees.
