IGA cuts training costs by up to 50% for member garages

The Independent Garage Association (IGA) has launched a major new funding initiative, subsidising up to 50% of the cost of high-demand technical and management training courses for its members.

Funded directly by the association, the move is designed to lower the financial barrier to upskilling, helping workshop owners develop their workforce and stay competitive without breaking the bank.

As vehicle technology evolves rapidly, finding affordable routes to train staff on complex systems like EV architectures and ADAS is a major hurdle for many independent business owners.

The IGA’s subsidy directly targets these high-growth areas, alongside essential MOT qualifications.

“The IGA continues to provide its members with genuine help and support that adds real value to independent garage businesses and to their ability to remain competitive in today’s fast-changing environment,” said Stuart James, Chief Executive of the IGA.

“By subsidising training across these essential disciplines, we’re helping independent garages build the skills they need to meet these challenges with confidence and in a cost-effective way. Providing practical, tangible member benefits like this is a key part of our role as the representative voice of the independent garage sector.”

To assist workshop managers in navigating the training options, the IGA has set up a dedicated support route.

Members looking for guidance on selecting the right courses for their team, or those wanting to check available dates and book their subsidised places, should call the IGA member helpline on 01788 225 908 or visit the IGA website for full details.
