Slater from The Anarchy Garage has tackled two major structural fabrications on his V8-powered Jaguar E-Type project, installing a modern F-Type fuel tank and custom-modifying the rear bootlid.
Integrating the complex fuel tank from a 2022 Jaguar F-Type P450 required cutting out floor panels behind the front seats. Slater fabricated a custom frame from 4mm box section steel, tying the front spaceframe directly into the rear axle and sills to significantly improve chassis rigidity.
The structural reinforcement allowed the team to remove the internal bracing bars. By retaining the F-Type’s original fuel tank mounting locations and incorporating rivnuts, the tank remains fully serviceable and drops out without needing extended high-pressure fuel lines or loom modifications.
To accommodate a planned rear spoiler on the 2+2 shell, Slater chopped the original E-Type bootlid in half. The top section was welded permanently into the body, while the lower panel was converted into a functional bottom-hinged hatch using modern Mini curved hinges for clean articulation.
