Professional Struggler: Nissan Micra transformed into 6R4 rally replica

In a brilliant showcase of backyard ingenuity, the latest upload from the Professional Struggler YouTube channel follows creator Chris and his son Archie as they complete a wild Nissan Micra-based replica of the iconic MG Metro 6R4.

Built for a self-organized budget trek through Wales, the duo eschews traditional fiberglass in favour of fabricating the entire wide-body silhouette from sheet steel, presenting a host of unique engineering hurdles.

Technicians will definitely relate to the frustrating workshop moments, such as the hunt for specific 19mm and 21mm thin-wall sockets after standard impact items proved too bulky to clear the internal diameter of their wheel hub extensions.

The project is packed with resourceful, if completely unorthodox, fabrication techniques, from welding a custom hub adapter for a quick-release steering wheel to crafting a truck-style extended gear stick for rapid shifts.

This unapologetically DIY spirit shines right through to the finishing touches, including a purely aesthetic PVC pipe roll cage joined with Tiger Seal, riveted Perspex windows, and a custom Cherry Bomb exhaust brilliantly capped off with a repurposed trampoline leg.

Offering a much-needed dose of lighthearted entertainment, this video is a fantastic testament to budget fabrication.
