Shortfield Garage Limited, based in Godalming, Surrey, has been appointed as the newest retailer for Austin Motor Company Limited, marking the first addition to the Austin dealer network in more than four decades.
The move is part of Austin’s wider strategy to re-establish its presence across the UK and Europe.
Operating since 2009, Shortfield Garage has built a reputation for customer-focused service, specialising in the sales, servicing, and MOT of quality used cars.
The family-run business will now represent Austin in Surrey, offering customers access to both Heritage and Contemporary models from the brand’s expanding range.
Their new showroom, conveniently located near the mainline station to London Waterloo, aims to provide a modern and accessible base for Austin enthusiasts.
Nigel Gordon-Stewart, Chairman and CEO of Austin Motor Company, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of our first new dealer, Shortfield Garage, to our Austin network, to be known as Austin Surrey.
“This marks the start of a new chapter for the Austin brand, with further appointments planned across the UK, Europe, and key international markets.”
For Shortfield Garage owners Andy Parsons and Darren Belmore, the appointment represents an exciting opportunity to work with one of Britain’s most iconic automotive brands.
Andy said: “We are genuinely thrilled about the rebirth of Austin. Partnering with a brand so focused on renewable energy and electric vehicles aligns with the challenges we face today, from rising energy costs to climate change.
“We look forward to welcoming Austin customers to our showroom and helping write the next chapter in the legacy of this legendary name.”
This appointment not only signals Austin’s return to the UK dealer network but also highlights the growing interest in electric and sustainable vehicles among independent garage networks.
