eBay reveals most expensive parts sold in 2025

A Jaguar E-Type bonnet has taken the crown as the most expensive car part sold on eBay UK in 2025, fetching a staggering £18,564 and highlighting the booming market for high-value independent restoration and repair.

The aluminium body panel for the British classic beat out the competition to top the annual “rich list” of parts, surpassing 2024’s winner – an Audi R8 V10 engine – by nearly £2,000.

While the E-Type bonnet grabbed the headlines, the second most expensive item tells a more practical industry story.

A complete front-end for a Ford Transit Custom sold for £17,180, narrowly beating a BMW M5 V8 engine to the silver medal.

This suggests a significant trend in high-value commercial vehicle repair, where sourcing a complete “front cut” for a crash repair is increasingly viable via online marketplaces, likely saving a van that would otherwise be a total loss.

The 2025 list confirms that the demand for replacement powertrains is stronger than ever.

Abir Tewari, UK Director Commercial Operations Parts & Accessories at eBay, said: “Last year demonstrated the unique, eclectic and interesting vehicle parts and accessories available on eBay.

“While premium powertrains remained in high demand, vintage bodywork for a Jaguar E-Type, a motoring icon, claimed the top spot.

“The top 10 products continue to show that eBay is a one-stop-shop for all UK motorists, from DIY essentials like windscreen wipers and floor mats, to complete powertrains and bodywork for some of the most iconic cars on the road.”
