FixMyCar returns to independent ownership following management buyout

Online car repair and maintenance giant FixMyCar is charting a new, independent course after a successful management buyout (MBO) from parent company Niterra EMEA GmbH.

The move, completed this week, sees the platform, formerly known as WhoCanFixMyCar, return to private ownership under a leadership team intimately familiar with its operations.

The buyout was led by CEO Amanda Webb, alongside Ben Darby and Matt Wrankmore, marking a significant milestone in the company’s 14-year history.

FixMyCar was acquired by Niterra (formerly NGK Spark Plug) in June 2023. However, following a strategic review of its EMEA portfolio, Niterra concluded that an independent structure would provide the best framework for the platform to scale further.

Damien Germès, President & CEO of Niterra EMEA GmbH, noted that the decision aligns with the group’s updated portfolio strategy:

“We concluded that an independent ownership structure provides a suitable framework for FixMyCar’s continued development. We thank the management team for their commitment and wish them success in the next phase of the company’s evolution.”
