The team at Shifting Metal take on a damaged Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG bought from BCA auction missing its complete front bumper assembly.

Once in the workshop, technician Ben began stripping the damaged front corner, replacing a bent upper radiator support slam panel and a dented wing that had previously undergone a poor filler repair.

With new body panels and a replacement bumper fitted, a non-functional nearside headlight triggered a communication fault code for the headlamp range adjustment control unit on the diagnostic scan tool.

Checking the electrical circuit revealed an immediately blowing fuse. Stripping the headlight unit exposed severe water ingress and corrosion on the ballast module mounted at the base of the lamp casing.

Replacing the unserviceable control unit with an uncoded replacement restored full headlight operation alongside the installation of a facelift rear diffuser and quad exhaust tips.
