The Race Group and Slicker Recycling have announced a new partnership designed to simplify waste management for UK workshops through a fixed-fee, “circular economy” service.
The agreement between The Race Group, part of Certas Energy, and the King’s Award-winning Slicker Recycling introduces a subscription-style model to a task traditionally managed through ad-hoc, unpredictable collections.
The core of the new offering is a 12-month agreement that provides workshops with a predictable monthly cost for all major liquid and solid waste disposal.
The package includes unlimited waste oil collections, four waste oil filter collections per year, and collection of empty metal drums.
Mark Powell, Director of Services and Solutions said: “Partnering with Slicker Recycling allows us to offer our customers a truly simplified and fully compliant waste oil solution.
“This service not only reduces administrative burden and cost uncertainty but also strengthens our commitment to supporting more sustainable practices across the industry.”
A key differentiator of this partnership is the final destination of the waste.
Rather than being burned as a fuel—a process that releases carbon emissions, the used oil collected is transported to Slicker Recycling’s specialised re-refinery.
At this facility, contaminants are removed and the used product is converted back into high-quality base oil.
This re-refined oil is then reintroduced into the lubricant supply chain to be used in the production of brand-new engine oils.
“By re-refining used oil back into high-quality base oil, we are helping The Race Group’s customers actively contribute to the circular economy while reducing environmental impact,” said Sean Thorpe, National Sales Manager at Slicker Recycling.
The partnership arrives at a time when garages are under increasing pressure to prove their environmental credentials while maintaining profitability.
By consolidating waste oil, filters, and drum disposal into a single, fixed-price service, the two companies claim to be setting a “new standard” for how workshops manage their environmental compliance.
