Starting in the second quarter of 2027, global component manufacturer Schaeffler will begin phasing out its standalone product branding across the automotive aftermarket. Established workshop names LuK, INA, and FAG will transition under a single, unified Schaeffler brand presence.
The move marks a major strategic shift for the Tier-1 OE supplier, whose clutch, valvetrain, and chassis components have traded under their respective individual marques across UK motor factors and workshop bays for decades.
What's changing?
For workshop owners and technicians concerned about parts lookup and supply chain upheaval, the manufacturer confirmed that the rebrand will not affect core part numbers, technical specifications, or OE build quality.
Unchanged part numbers and catalogues: Existing online cataloguing, part reference numbers, OE specifications, and trade agreements will remain strictly unchanged.
Component-level stamping: The familiar LuK, INA, and FAG logos will continue to be stamped directly on the physical components themselves.
Phased packaging rollout: The brand changeover will roll out gradually, starting with the FAG chassis and bearing line in Q2 2027. New Schaeffler-branded packaging will introduce a unified design, while keeping the FAG logo in a supporting, recognisable position on the box.
LuK and INA to follow: Transmission and engine components will follow the same phased packaging transition later in the rollout schedule.
Adapting to vehicle complexity
Schaeffler points to the accelerating complexity of modern drivetrains, including hybrid and electrified platforms, as the key driver behind consolidating its Vehicle Lifetime Solutions division under one umbrella.
As vehicles integrate complex mechanical and electronic systems, workshops are increasingly demanding joined-up technical support, integrated repair solutions, and comprehensive digital data rather than isolated components.
“Our Tier-1 customers already experience Schaeffler as one technology partner,” said Jens Schueler, CEO of Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions. “Bringing our product and service portfolio together under one brand is the next logical step and reinforces our ambition to lead the future of mobility and repair.”
Maik Losleben, Head of Repair and Maintenance Solutions at Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions, noted that while the visual presentation is streamlining, retaining familiar identifiers on boxes and parts remains critical for workshop confidence:
“Professional mechanics expect integrated repair solutions they can trust. Our ‘one brand’ approach will simplify decision-making for installers, strengthen the connection with the Schaeffler corporate brand, and make our communications more efficient.
“By retaining the established LuK, INA, and FAG names and logos, we will ensure a smooth transition, while preserving the trust and recognition these brands have built over the years.”
