Schaeffler has produced a major new series of in-depth technical training videos designed to give workshop technicians immediate, practical guidance without sacrificing ramp time.
Filmed inside the company’s dedicated workshop facility at its Hereford headquarters, the production spans 13 core topics covering modern combustion engines, transmission systems, and emerging e-mobility technologies.
The suite includes more than 60 short-form guides alongside longer, deep-dive features, with roll-out planned later this year across the REPXPERT platform, YouTube, and wider social media channels.
The project directly targets one of the most persistent operational hurdles facing independent garage owners: balancing the urgent need for technical upskilling against the loss of daily labour recovery when sending technicians off-site.
Alistair Mason, Technical Services Manager at Schaeffler and the presenter across the new series, explained that digital access has rapidly become the preferred format for both workshops and parts distributors looking for flexible technical support.
“While we have delivered face-to-face training for thousands of technicians over the years, there’s always the logistical complexity of someone being available, the technicians taking the day away from the ramp and then also needing to retain all of the information that’s been provided to them,” he said.
“However, with these videos, which will be available through the REPXPERT app and on our YouTube channel, technicians can quickly and easily get the technical information they require, and can pause, rewind or revisit whenever they need to.
“We anticipate these videos becoming a vital source of information for all workshop professionals.”
By breaking complex installation procedures and diagnostic steps into bite-sized, on-demand modules, the video catalogue is built to serve as a live bench reference.
Technicians and apprentices encountering unfamiliar systems—from dual-mass flywheels and dry double-clutch systems to high-voltage disconnects, can cross-check critical fitment guidelines directly on mobile devices while the vehicle remains on the two-post lift.
The initiative highlights a growing trend among Tier-1 component manufacturers to supplement traditional classroom courses with immediate, digital technical collateral as vehicle technology broadens across UK workshops.
