Valeo urges workshops to stop “binning” loyalty points and unlock hidden value

Valeo Service UK is challenging independent garages to rethink everyday workshop habits, urging technicians and workshop managers to audit what happens to packaging waste in a bid to recover thousands of pounds in overlooked loyalty value.

With margins under increasing pressure and operating costs continuing to rise, Valeo is highlighting how routine workshop behaviour may be quietly eroding potential returns through unused loyalty rewards within its Specialist Club programme.

The fully digital, paperless platform allows technicians to scan Valeo product barcodes to earn points instantly. However, Valeo believes that in fast-paced workshop environments, where diagnostic workloads and vehicle throughput are high, the simple step of scanning packaging before disposal is still being overlooked.

“UK technicians are exceptionally efficient when it comes to completing complex repairs and keeping vehicles moving,” said Andy Swann, Valeo Division General Manager. “But too often, once the job is done, packaging is discarded without being scanned, and that’s where value is being lost.”

Workshops can redeem their accumulated points for wide range of high-value rewards, ranging from Stanley FATMAX socket sets and Black+Decker pressure washers to premium team incentives like Apple iPads and the Apple Watch Series 10.

“The Specialist Club app is a quick, frictionless tool that takes seconds to use, but can return meaningful rewards,” said Andy. “A FullPack DMF scan will get you £10 voucher, for example. In the current economic climate, leaving those points behind is something workshops simply cannot afford.”

Valeo is encouraging garages to reposition the scan function as the final step in the repair process, rather than an optional administrative task, ensuring loyalty value is captured as part of the job workflow.

The Specialist Club system operates in real time, with barcode scans instantly converting into points that are credited directly to the workshop account. Valeo’s broad aftermarket portfolio, spanning transmission, air conditioning, wiping systems, lighting and electrical components across both passenger car and commercial vehicle applications, enables workshops to accumulate rewards quickly across a wide range of jobs.

Unlike traditional reward schemes that rely on manual redemption processes such as collecting packaging or logging invoices, the digital platform allows workshops to track and redeem points instantly via the app, exchanging them for workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and team incentives.

The Valeo Specialist Club app is free to download on iOS and Android devices. Further information is available at www.valeoservice.co.uk/en-uk/specialistclub.
